Comparision of Choledochal Cyst between Child and Adult Type




Abstract
Choledochal cyst or cystic dilatation of bile duct is a relatively uncommon disease and there is a controversy regarding to its etiology as congenital or acquired. Twenty-four cases of choledochal cyst treated surgically at Chonnam University
Hospital
during the period of January 1982 to April 1992 were classified into child and adult type by age and authors compared child with adult type in clinical points of view.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) In child and adult type, the choledochal cyst is prevalent in female. The classical symptom triad was more common in adult type. The most common preoperative diagnostic method was ultrasonography in child and adult type and the
preoperative
diagnosis was precise in adult type.
2) The combined disease were more common in adult type with underling diseases. According to the Todani's classification, the most common type common type was type I in child and adult type but the type II and type V were not observed in this
study.
3) The most common surgical method in child and adult type is cyst excision and hepaticojejunostomy The postoperative complications were more developed in child type.
Above results suggested that there was no significant differences in comparison of choledochal cyst between child and adult type clinically.
